The Embassy

So many of you ask "Do I need to upgrade my embassy?". Why...Yes YOU DO! Of course the embassy is important because it allows you to join an alliance, but it has another very important function. For each level you upgrade it, you can have that many garrisoned troops from other players. Example: My embassy is level 5, so now 5 other players can send troops to your city to defend you. This only works if you click on your embassy and check the box "allow troops of allied members to garrison your current city". When your troops are in another players city under reinforce, they consume that players food. So, it is customary to send food with your reinforcing troops.
